My First Croke

November 16th, 2009 · No Comments · Real Style, Shop Dublin, Shop Thrift

I was super thrilled to find out that my hubby got tickets for the Ireland v. France match on Saturday. It was my second ever football (in the US read: soccer) match and my first ever trip to Croke Park. I’m a girl who grew up with a football (in Europe read: American football) mad mother and basketball mad step dad, so I’ve learned how to be a top-notch spectator and supporter to make up for my complete lack of athletic prowess. And if there’s anything I understand, it’s team colours!

This sweater was quite a find, scored in Oxfam just minutes after finding out we got tickets and realising I own no green. I knew we were leaving early to pick up the tickets, get some food and soak up the atmosphere. After the match we headed into town to do recon on Saturday night hot-spots for my birthday party, so I needed a look that could work anywhere, in any weather and needed comfy shoes. There’s only one way to achieve this: Layers. (I also wore my favourite navy peacoat and black leather gloves.)

Sure Ireland may have lost, but I had an amazing time. The crowd was on fire and the energy enough to make me a fan! Plus I now have a ridiculously green sweater, so I’ll need more occasions to bust it out! Come on you boys in green!

By the way, I keep finding great stuff at Oxfam Georges Street. The merch moves quick though and I’m still lamenting the loss of a LDB and red plaid coat that got away.
