This week I won a too-cute polka dot t-shirt from Doo-Lally.com. In a perfect world, this is how I’d wear it. Still trying to convince my hubby that I need to buy a few new things to go with my shirt. He thinks it is a bad idea.

After Nate was born, Chris got my a lovely necklace from E. Ria Designs on Etsy with a N for Nate on it. I absolutely love my necklace (so that he can always be close to my heart, gah). I picked out this necklace because the initial was quite small and offset, making it a little different. I debated gold or silver for a while and opted for silver with a gold pearl. Any future kids can be gold (then silver, then gold, then silver…now Chris is really sweating!) Husbands, dads, sons, take note: this is a lovely gift for a mom.

Normally when I browse through Etsy I stick to the Vintage pages. I completely forgot that there are some amazing, reasonably priced dresses in the handmade section. Check out the amazing Dressholic shop with gorgeous (and cheap!) dresses designed with a retro flair by a young Korean designer. I adore this orange polka dot dress! Off to go check my measurements!

Give Good Face

Thank to my very generous husband, brother in law and coworkers I have been loaded up with gift vouchers to the Buff Day Spa near Stephen’s Green. I visited the spa on several occasions for blissful maternity massage and have been excited to indulge myself in treatments I’m usually too stingy for like mud treatments and facials.

Yesterday I had my first proper facial and I now realise the error of my ways. Facials are vitally important and should be as essential as going to the dentist and optomitrist. My skin was desperate. After 7 months of general neglect as a busy mom and with the baby taking all my nutrients from pregnancy and breastfeeding, I’d lost the glow. But thanks to the sublime Dermalogica facial and the deft hands of Niahm, I now have the face of a 25 year old me.

I seriously cannot stop touching my face. It is so soft and smooth and, this is embarrassing, I thought I had freckles. But no! They were blackheads. Yuck! Now all gone. I’m hooked and am now going to add regular facials to my life, along with the Dermalogica products. Thanks to the gals at Beaut.ie, I learned you can get the products cheap and delivered to your door on Adonis Grooming.

Mother’s Day Dress Search

I’m so grateful and excited to celebrate my fist mother’s day this year. I don’t have a ton of pictures of me and Nate (I’m usually behind the camera these days), so I’d like to look lovely on the day. I’m looking for a spring dress (even it if is cold that day) that has an a-line skirt and buttons up or crosses over (for easy nursing access). This quest is harder than I thought it would be. I came across a great Etsy seller today, Vintage Misfits, and found two sweet dresses that I might have to get. Again I’m drawn to the black and white…guess all the baby toys taking over my house are enough colour for me!

There are over 200 items in the shop (run by a Texas gal no less) and all are organised by colour. It’s really a fun shop to click through as the colours change from black to brown to green to blue… If you’re looking for a Little Black Dress, you’ll definitely find one here. Just don’t take the velvet dress, I think I need that for my 30th celebration later this year!

Although I’ll be sad to end my maternity leave in June, I’ll be happy to start dressing like a lady again. In order to ease the transition from full time mommy to working girl, I think I’ll need these. It’s so cold out, why not dream of sunny days!

By the way, I am absolutely loving the new High Society line at A|Wear this season. Everything is so lovely and feminine. Hello there. It’s been a long time…almost 6 months. Sorry for the long absence, but mommy duties prevailed. I decided to use my maternity leave as time purely devoted to my little guy. You just don’t get those early days back you know. Anyhow, he’s getting bigger and better at sleeping now so I have some time to think about pretty, non-baby things. And with Nate being rocked to sleep to the Shins by his dad, I am doing a little online wish-listing.

I heart Hart+Sew! My new first-stop-shop for vintage baby and toddler clothes. My husband thought I was absurd buying vintage duds for our dude, but when he saw the tiny gym shorts he made some pretty embarrassing baby squeals (and will probably ban me from Etsy for life for telling you that!) All the little girl clothes are predictably adorable, but I was pleasantly surprised to find more than a few wonderful items for boys. This is my first (and definitely not my last) bundle from Hart+Sew.
