I was feeling a wee bit homesick the other day and found this awesome shirt from the 70s/80s on Etsy expressing the same sentiment I feel for my hometown–San Antonio, Texas. I totally didn’t appreciate SA when I was growing up, but now I realise just how much the South Texas culture has influenced me. I’m stoked to bring my little guy home for summer holidays with visits to Kiddie Park, Schlitterbahn (the hottest coolest time in Texas), tubing on the Guadalupe and to taste the best food in the world!

May Dublin Flea Finds

Yesterday was an amazing day in Dublin–bright, sunny and perfect for hitting up the Dublin Flea Market. The market is really becoming an event and a great place to meet up with friends for lunch, a chat and a browse around the many goodies. I’m really loving the outdoor stalls that tended to have more treasures at much cheaper prices than the professional sellers inside. There were loads of lovely clothes stalls, but I kept my cool since nothing could possibly fit me in my state. Instead, here’s what I found:

♥ For the Baby: Dino Records T-Rex Clock €12 ♥

Vintage Ireland Fair

Yesterday I headed to lovely Dun Laoghaire for the Vintage Ireland Fashion and Decor Fair. It was amazing. Choc full o’ vintage dealers and collectors from Ireland and Europe. The folks at Vintage Ireland organised a great event with competitions, fashion shows, lindy hop demos, makeovers and a ball to top it all off. I only wish I could have stayed longer to soak up the atmosphere even more.

It was almost overwhelmingly lovely. Luckily for my wallet, I’m now getting to the rapid growth stage of my pregnancy so I couldn’t take advantage of all the wonderful dresses that filled the hotel ballroom. It was like visiting a museum of pretty things, with something to interest anyone–from 60’s cocktail dresses to cat-eye glasses. I actually liked all the odds and ends like old suitcases, porcelain pandas and record collections (I scored a few great pieces for my vinyl collection–a gift for the little-guy-to-be).

The next Vintage Ireland Fashion & Decor Fair is in Galway on July 18. Don’t miss it!

April showers may bring May flowers, but it doesn’t mean you have to let the dreary weather get you down. Dublin Flea Finds

Last Sunday I visited the new and improved Dublin Flea Market. With all the new stalls under the marquees in the parking lot, I was a bit overwhelmed by the choice (and am still regretting not getting a couple of items, but them’s the breaks). Here’s what I did come home with:

The cardigan came from a great stall that’s always at Dublin Flea (at the top of the stairs). I’ve found a ton of amazing things from her. She has really lovely pieces at incredibly reasonable prices. Make sure it’s your first stop.

I was super excited to find this necklace. Earlier last week, I stumbled on A Box for My Treasure on Etsy and was totally overwhelmed by all the pretty necklaces. I could have bought a bunch of pieces like this, this and this. But I’m really happy with my blue rose necklace (perfect for Easter!) Hopefully I’ll run into her again! Keep an eye out for her stand or just buy now.

I sadly have to miss the market in April, but will be there in May with an eye out for more lovely vintage, handmade and thrifty goods. There were a ton of great vintage clothes and furnishings last time (of course, very few things fit me now). It seems like the word has gotten round and Dublin’s best sellers are making their way to the Flea to offer up great deals. Don’t miss it! I’ve never walked away empty handed!

As you can see, I was incredible productive between 4:40pm-5:00pm as I left a meeting and heading down Rathmines. I couldn’t resist the Jones Soda labels and knew my hubby would dig the LOL Cats. I mean, can we ever have too many LOL Cats in our lives? NO.

The sewing mags from the 1970 are fab. They have great knitting, crocheting and sewing patterns that I may try scanning and posting in the future…anyone interested in knitting their own stockings for spring?

The Discover Science and Dickens are gifts for my growing baby. I figure classic literature can’t be bad (and can balance out our collection of Bukowski and Welsh) and the Discover Science is AMAZING. I may frame it as nursery decoration.

Lucy’s Lounge Vintage Basement

Thanks to the tip from Whisty Blogs Dublin Fashion, I headed over the Lucy’s Lounge during my lunch break today (and I really needed a break). Lucy’s Lounge is a great little vintage and thrift shop across(ish) from Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar–just look for the pepto-pink building and unicorn.

There’s an insane amount of stuff in this little basement–housewares, jewelry, hats, mens, womens, you name it. It’s a really fun place to have a nose around. Check it out if you’re in town (from 1pm-6pm only). I found a really cute summer dress that fits for now and will fit even better post-baby, and a cute tiny crossover bag inspired by Jess’s new Coach bag on WIW, but much much cheaper. Here’s a sneak peak…
