This outfit really came together last minute and worked! (That usually doesn’t happen, like when I get dressed in the dark and mismatch my tights) It works because it’s an easy silhouette that mixes trends (big plaid flannel) and classic pieces (navy wool pencil skirt). I had fun playing around with photos too…

Stripes and Snoods

I am absolutely loving my new snood from A-Wear. It’s soft and comfy and dresses up ordinary outfits. Plus it’s fun to say snood…snnnnnood…snooooood* I’m not sure I understand where the name comes from, but it’s not really that important (I get the S-scarf and OOD-hood, but he N?) I was inspired by MessYourHairUp’s recent snood+stripes combo and through this together in a mad rush out the door (though not too mad to miss an opportunity to take photos)

♥ Sweater: Express ♥

It was really cold out, so I added a sweater for the commute. This cropped grey cashmere sweater from Express is one of my favourite pieces. I found it on sale for $19 about 7 years ago and it has definitely been worth every penny. The cropped sleeves and tight fit let the stripes shine through and doesn’t add too much bulk (and helps counter the horizontal stripe effect)

♥ Boots: New Look ♥

And these are my new grey boots (purchased in the North because they were cheaper). I really wanted some flat grey boots and these were the first I saw that I liked. I know that being cheep they probably won’t last too long, but they are actually made pretty well and are very comfortable.

Roadtrip Recap

You read what I planned to wear on my wardrobe, and here’s the recap. Thanks to some torrential downpours, insane allergies and a less-than-enthusiastic photographer husband, I didn’t get the best outfit shots. I really liked all the outfits I wore, so I’ll probably wear them again and will get more detail shots later. (Day 4 was an obvious photo framing fail!)

Steele Her Style

Indiana at Adored Austin started a style chain recently were she took inspiration from other gal’s style to make it her own. Well, I continued the chain by pairing a plaid shirt with a pencil skirt. I love this look and it was easy to pull together with some newly acquired super thrifty pieces and some old stuff that needed re-thinking. I have an affinity for these old snap pearl button shirts because they make me think of my grandpa, Billie Joe Steele (yes, coolest name ever) and I love this long, sassy secretary pencil skirt. Thanks for the inspiration Indiana!

Necklace: Stand in the Boston University GSU, I saved up for weeks during my Freshman year to buy it for $20
