@24WeeksΞ Ah spring. Such a lovely and difficult time to get dressed in the morning. On this particularly day, I boldly left home without my trusty trench–and quickly regretted it as the temperature dropped during the day. Thankfully I brought my bright yellow scarf to wrap up in. I get very confused by bright sunny days and expect they should be warm. One of these days I’ll get used to Dublin.

I’m once again wearing my favourite top from my hometown of San Antonio. I’m feeling a lot of nostalgia for home in my pregnancy and want to make sure this little guy connects to his Texas roots (and Irish and English too). I’ve always worn the top with jeans and suddenly realised I could make it work appropriate with my pencil skirt. I’m still amazed that this children’s size shirt still fits (though not for long)

I definitely gravitate towards colour during spring. With beautiful flowers popping up and a return of blue sky, it’s impossible to wear dark earthy tones or heavy knits–even it if is freezing outside! Lesson learned, always bring a coat or layers to make it through the Dublin day.

This is St Audoen’s Church, one of the many medieval churches around the Christchurch area. I was there to attend the Ye Lord Mayor’s Delight as part of the TCBT Handel’s Day celebrations. St. Audoen’s is open to tourists after some great renovations. You should definitely check it out!

@23 WeeksΞ Isn’t this cardigan amazing. I found it at Dublin Flea for only €11. Remember? I’m really feeling bright colours lately, maybe it’s wishful thinking for bright days outside. I really like how the all black outfit makes the coral pop. I also love how figure hugging this outfit is to really show off the bump.

I had a meeting on this day, so I wanted to wear my glasses to smarten me up. Just kidding, there was something about the silhouette that called for my hair slicked back with glasses. I’m also wearing one of my favourite necklaces given to me by my former colleagues in Boston. It’s a tiny reminder of a great place to work, I like to wear it when I’m about to embark on a particularly challenging day.

I should add that my lippy is my very most favourite (and matching) Clinique Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Ambrosia.

@22 WeeksΞAs you might have noticed, I’m not posting outfits in order now. I just want to keep you on your toes. Anyway. I actually wore a version of this outfit today (at 26 weeks). I really love this top from Penneys that I got last summer. It has held up remarkably well and has really transitioned into a maternity top. My lovely tulip necklace is Cloisonne from Perk Up Vintage.

I’m finding that I can still wear a lot of non maternity tops, especially with so many longer tunic-y type tops on the high street these days. It helps that I was smaller in the chest to begin with. The key to managing my maternity wardrobe has been mixing and matching what I already have and updating with new things only when necessary.

The pencil skirt was necessary. Absolutely. This little skirt is a great piece from Mothercare. I got it on sale for €15 and have already gotten more than my money’s worth. It’s thick jersey and cut to go around my bump (with pleating paneling of the skirt, rather than an elastic band) so it’s very comfortable. Funnily, I never liked the look of pencil skirts on me until now. Glad to finally try it out!

This outfit really came together last minute and worked! (That usually doesn’t happen, like when I get dressed in the dark and mismatch my tights) It works because it’s an easy silhouette that mixes trends (big plaid flannel) and classic pieces (navy wool pencil skirt). I had fun playing around with photos too…

On Monday I got free tickets to a preview of Me and Orson Welles at the IFI. It was a nice little film about Orson Welles’s band of misfit actors and artists as they prepare a play. Movie review aside (I liked it), the costumes and music from New York in 1937 inspired this outfit. I’m not trying to look like I’m from the 30’s, just reference the style.

♥ Navy Pencil Skirt: Thrifted, Oxfam (Georges Street) ♥ White Eyelet Shirt: Thrifted/Vintage, Dublin Flea Market ♥ Dark Green Cardigan: Penneys ♥ Navy Tights with Back Seam: Dunnes ♥ Navy Shoes: Aldo (DTX) ♥ Pressed Flower Broach: Thrifted/Vintage, Howth Book Fair ♥

I think the long pencil skirt and vintage eyelet top definitely echo similar silhouettes in the 30s and 40s. I liked all the twills and tweeds in the film, but didn’t have anything to play with and instead opted for a long dark green (almost black) cardigan that I think fits the look. I adore this shirt found at Dublin Flea for €5. It’s so sweet and delicate and definitely old. The buttons have a habit of coming out of their holes, so I have to wear it with something over the back, but it can be fixed.

And this broach is another recent find (also €5) from a very random book and brick-a-brack fair in Howth. I barely made it through the door before the wonderfully nice old lady set her sights on me. She apaprently used to have a jewelry store in Dublin and this was one of the pieces handmade by a local artist. Its real pressed flowers in there, very special.

Indiana at Adored Austin started a style chain recently were she took inspiration from other gal’s style to make it her own. Well, I continued the chain by pairing a plaid shirt with a pencil skirt. I love this look and it was easy to pull together with some newly acquired super thrifty pieces and some old stuff that needed re-thinking. I have an affinity for these old snap pearl button shirts because they make me think of my grandpa, Billie Joe Steele (yes, coolest name ever) and I love this long, sassy secretary pencil skirt. Thanks for the inspiration Indiana!

Skirt: Oxfam Vintage, Georges Street (€5, belt included! So I admit, they have some great stuff there)

Top: Super old from TJ Maxx I think

Necklace: Stand in the Boston University GSU, I saved up for weeks during my Freshman year to buy it for $20

Shoes: Super old again, but hardly worn from TJ Maxx for $10

Bag: Obligitory work bag from M&S
