This outfit really came together last minute and worked! (That usually doesn’t happen, like when I get dressed in the dark and mismatch my tights) It works because it’s an easy silhouette that mixes trends (big plaid flannel) and classic pieces (navy wool pencil skirt). I had fun playing around with photos too…

Wild Child

I recently found some great vintage items at pretty reasonable prices at Wild Child, and am a big fan. They have a great selection of skirts and dresses with lots of bargains to be had. The staff are really kind and the clothes are in excellent condition.

Wild Child’s home in the Georges Street Arcade

On this particular trip to Wild Child, I spent my lunch money on an acrylic v-neck sweater and two great winter skirts. The sweater fit like a glove and says “bowling”–how could I possibly not take it home. The skirts are quite long, which can work because I’m tall. I’m going to try wearing them as is for a while, but will probably end up heming them.

The tweed skirt has box pleats and faux sailor buttons. I love all the little speckles of colour! It’s quite structured and has a fantastic 60s college girl feel.

The plaid skirt by Labrador Lady (fantasitc!) has knife pleats and buttons down the back. My favourite part is the little silver labrador charm. It is pretty long and school-girlish. I could hem it or wear it belted as a dress. We’ll see what works.

Roadtrip Recap

You read what I planned to wear on my wardrobe, and here’s the recap. Thanks to some torrential downpours, insane allergies and a less-than-enthusiastic photographer husband, I didn’t get the best outfit shots. I really liked all the outfits I wore, so I’ll probably wear them again and will get more detail shots later. (Day 4 was an obvious photo framing fail!)

Oktoberfest

Last weekend the Husband and I took advantage of a perfect, crisp, sunny fall day at the Paulaner Octoberfest in the IFSC. How I love Oct-fest! Beer, delicious sausage, lederhosen and music in a language I can’t understand.

For a fresh day outdoors, I wore my new surprisingly well fitting black bootcut jeans, a green and grey plaid shirt, Pumas.

That stein was really heavy, but what was I to do? It was Beer O’Clock! (as evidenced by my most favourite Horsey Watch from Lulu*s). You still have a few days left get your German fix–Octoberfest closes on Sunday October 18.

Mixed Prints

Today I pulled together a new outfit all with pieces under €20! I really liked the idea of mixing prints (dots and plaid) but I’m playing it safe by keeping everything black and white. I picked out the blue beads at the last minute to give a little dash of colour and think the tone matches by Miami Pink toes.

Living in rainsoaked Dublin means that cute coats are essential, and seeing as I didn’t really own a proper coat for my first 18 years in South Texas, I still find them a novelty. My mom and I spotted this cute black & white plaid, full shirt trench coat on sale at Dunnes for €9. It was missing most of the buttons, so we spirited some for other coats in the shop–Mom’s idea, I promise!

London Calling

I’m off to London in a few hours and am sure I packed exactly the wrong things. I wish the weather came with a how to dress guide. The forcast keeps changing…rainy, cold, hot, not so rainy. I can only bring my tiny Ryan Air permitted cabin bag (ready to schlep around town). So no shopping for me. I’m packing dresses, cardigans, leggings and my new purple rain vinyl raincoat. But what I really wish I was taking is this cute little ensemble from Omiru.
