@38WeeksΞI adore this top and am so glad it has fit throughout my maternity (although the last snap is a bit snug). I feel very Brady Bunch mom (or maybe Alice) in this top and love to wear it when I’m doing housewifey things. On this occasion, we didn’t have electricity from 9am-5pm so I listened to a battery powered radio (okay, an iPod) and worked on hand stitching pillow cases for the baby’s room. It’s probably super cheesey, but I enjoyed wearing a thrifted, vintage top on such a low-fi day.

♥ Navy Secretary Dress: Vintage, thrifted, hemmed from Wild Child Vintage ♥ Orange and navy striped belt: Goodwill San Francisco ♥ Boots: Jones ♥ Black maternity tights: Berkshire ♥ Starfish silver necklace: Gift from former colleagues ♥

@25WeeksΞ How adorable is this dress? I found it at Wild Child last year but never got around to hemming it until now. It was a decent price (3 dresses for €50 including this one and a cute green plaid dress that I may have to wait until next year to wear). It was really long, so I brought it up about 2.5 inches. I think I might bring it up more post-maternity, but didn’t want it to be scandalously short with the bump.

The original belt is missing so I added this orange and navy striped belt. It adds a punch of colour so that the dress isn’t too dark and accents what little waist I have left. I found it at Goodwill in the Haight, San Francisco for $2. That was a truly great thrift shop and I’m still lamenting things left behind…

What I love most about this dress is that it fits my narrow shoulders perfectly. This is a rare find for me! The rounded collar and pleating around the shoulders are a really nice touch making this dress a must have. I’ll keep playing around with the hem until it’s perfect. For now though, it’s fitting my bump nicely thanks to the elastic natural waist and box pleat skirt.

By the way, did you notice my eyebrows have finally been tamed? I finally found a cheap local place to get them shaped (without wax, I’m too sensitive) — Body Craft near Patrick’s Cathedral for €10

Last Sunday I visited the new and improved Dublin Flea Market. With all the new stalls under the marquees in the parking lot, I was a bit overwhelmed by the choice (and am still regretting not getting a couple of items, but them’s the breaks). Here’s what I did come home with:

♥♥♥ Coral beaded and embroidered cardigan: €11 ♥♥♥

♥♥♥ Rosie Bow Necklace from A Box for My Treasure: €12 ♥♥♥

♥♥♥ Anchor Bow Broach: €2 ♥♥♥

The cardigan came from a great stall that’s always at Dublin Flea (at the top of the stairs). I’ve found a ton of amazing things from her. She has really lovely pieces at incredibly reasonable prices. Make sure it’s your first stop.

I was super excited to find this necklace. Earlier last week, I stumbled on A Box for My Treasure on Etsy and was totally overwhelmed by all the pretty necklaces. I could have bought a bunch of pieces like this, this and this. But I’m really happy with my blue rose necklace (perfect for Easter!) Hopefully I’ll run into her again! Keep an eye out for her stand or just buy now.

I sadly have to miss the market in April, but will be there in May with an eye out for more lovely vintage, handmade and thrifty goods. There were a ton of great vintage clothes and furnishings last time (of course, very few things fit me now). It seems like the word has gotten round and Dublin’s best sellers are making their way to the Flea to offer up great deals. Don’t miss it! I’ve never walked away empty handed!

@19 WeeksΞ This dress isn’t maternity, but it sure makes a great maternity dress! These days, I’m loving anything loose and flowy. I found it at the An Taisce Swap Shop fundraiser to help restore the lovely Tailor’s Hall and wore it last year as seen here. I tried a bunch of under shirts on until I finally decided on the electric blue t-shirt to give it a punch of colour that this outfit really needed. I’m learning that the key to maternity dressing is comfort from head to toe, including your underthings. That’s why the maternity tshirt works–there’s no use in a loose dress with a tight top around the belly!

On Monday I got free tickets to a preview of Me and Orson Welles at the IFI. It was a nice little film about Orson Welles’s band of misfit actors and artists as they prepare a play. Movie review aside (I liked it), the costumes and music from New York in 1937 inspired this outfit. I’m not trying to look like I’m from the 30’s, just reference the style.

♥ Navy Pencil Skirt: Thrifted, Oxfam (Georges Street) ♥ White Eyelet Shirt: Thrifted/Vintage, Dublin Flea Market ♥ Dark Green Cardigan: Penneys ♥ Navy Tights with Back Seam: Dunnes ♥ Navy Shoes: Aldo (DTX) ♥ Pressed Flower Broach: Thrifted/Vintage, Howth Book Fair ♥

I think the long pencil skirt and vintage eyelet top definitely echo similar silhouettes in the 30s and 40s. I liked all the twills and tweeds in the film, but didn’t have anything to play with and instead opted for a long dark green (almost black) cardigan that I think fits the look. I adore this shirt found at Dublin Flea for €5. It’s so sweet and delicate and definitely old. The buttons have a habit of coming out of their holes, so I have to wear it with something over the back, but it can be fixed.

And this broach is another recent find (also €5) from a very random book and brick-a-brack fair in Howth. I barely made it through the door before the wonderfully nice old lady set her sights on me. She apaprently used to have a jewelry store in Dublin and this was one of the pieces handmade by a local artist. Its real pressed flowers in there, very special.
