@16 Weeks Ξ We were very lucky to be invited to a wonderful wedding in Palo Alto, CA last month. I’m so glad we went–it was a perfect babymoon and traveling at 4 months wasn’t too bad (but not necessarily a breeze). I was slightly concerned heading out because in the days before our trip my baby bump started to develop–rapidly. I had no idea what to pack, or if my clothes would last the 10 day trip. On top of this I needed a cute dress for an all day wedding extravaganza.

Guided by who knows what, I strayed from my usual commute home and into the Gap concession at Arnotts to find a cute, practical black sleeveless dress with a slightly higher than natural waist and slightly belled pleating. Perfect! It was cute, fit well on normal me and had room to grow (it’s not maternity, size M). Plus it was only €15! I’ve worn it tons, every gal needs a LBD…even pregnant ones!

Once the dress was settled, it was on to the accessories. I adored the gold woven clutch from Accessorize, so I started there. Since my dress was pretty safe, I decided to go wild on my feet with my favourite €20 leopard print shoes from M&S that I got for my birthday. To add a bit more colour, I wrapped up in a gorgeous, light and soft pashmina that my hubby’s aunt brought me from Saudi.

Outfit sorted in no time at all…almost. The night before we left, I tried on everything to make sure it fit. But 3 days later, my go-to black tights were much too small. I fretted a bit and less than an hour before the wedding, mostly dressed I made my way grumpily to CVS to buy QPlus tights. But there, across the street was a fantastic maternity store, Mom’s the Word, with $10 tights! Lucky days (again!)

I wore this dress to a recent wedding in Glendalough. I really love this dress–it’s definitely a lesson in thrifty style. I picked up the dress during the Christmas sales for €200 off and added the deep purple sash from another dress. Just a few days before the wedding I found the wrap that matches perfectly in Pennys for €4. My taupe patent heels are from DSW and were purchased with the proceeds of a wardrobe purge/eBay sale last year. I already had most of the accessories, including a very pretty gold and turquoise bracelet from the husband and my grandmother’s handbag from her school years. Not including the items I already had in my closet, this outfit cost me under €100!

Dress: Monsoon (on sale–always buy Monsoon on sale!)

Wrap: Pennys

Shoes: Elizabeth Arden at DSW (Boston, DTX)

Peacock Clip: Lulu*s

Bracelet: Etsy (gift from hubby)

Love Ring: Accessorize

Black Clutch: Vintage, gift from grandmother
